MakerSpace Relies on Volunteers!
MakerSpace needs volunteers to help during each class, and volunteers to help with sorting and organizing materials. MakerSpace has an open door policy, so please stop by to volunteer any time or sign-up for a specific time below:
To help sorting materials, drop by any time! If you would like to volunteer outside of your child's class, feel free to email Paki Wolfe.
To sign-up for a specific teacher's class, click on the teacher's name below. Parents, when you sign in at the office, please grab any items that are in the green MakerSpace bin in the office and bring them with you to the MakerSpace room (D3). Thank you!

Tips for Volunteers:
Please arrive 10 minutes before your class arrives in order to become familiar with the project and ask any questions you may have.
The students do their own work. If a student is struggling, please do not rescue them. They learn by doing.
If a student is struggling, ask them open-ended questions to help them focus on the issue. Some examples are:
“How do you think you can do it differently?”
"What do you think you could change on your_____?”
“Can you think of something else you can use to make that turn/stay/swing etc.?”
"What other way can you try?"
"Why do you think that is happening?"
Learning from peers is encouraged along with using observation to help figure out “problems” with their project. Learning from each other is a powerful tool.
Let the kids know failure is expected and shows they are trying. Failure is needed in order to learn. Going back and trying again and again, shows strength and perseverance.
Encourage students to minimize waste of materials. Only take what you will use.
Have the students clean-up and put their supplies away at the end of class. Salvage any reusable materials.
Thank you for helping!!!!
